한의학은 동아시아에서 전해져 온 전통의학이다. 이는 음약학설을 바탕으로 인체의 생리현상을 마치 자연현상처럼 파악하며, 다른 의학들과는 달리 침술, 뜸법, 추나요법 등을 사용합니다. 이러한 한방 의료를 전문적으로 시행하는 의료기관 중 한의사가 그 의료를 행하며, 진료에 지장이 없는 시설을 갖춘 1차 의료기관을 한의원이라 한다.
‘Oriental Medicine’ is a traditional medical method originated and is still used regularly in Oriental region such as China, Japan and Korea. Unlike other more practically used medical methods, Oriental Medicine follows theories based on ‘Yin Yang (陰陽)’. Oriental Medicine studies physiological phenomenon and understand it as natural phenomenon, Thus uses different treatment methods such as acupuncture, Cautery, chiropractic, herbal medicine.. etc. Once a facility or an institution where these practices can be followed, at last it can be called ‘Oriental Clinic’ .
Concept
바쁜 현대인들에게 있어서 병원을 가는 것은 단순한 일과로써, 치료를 받기 위해 틈새로 낸 시간으로 여겨지고 있다. 병원에 머무르는 시간이 그들에게는 잠시 스쳐 지나가는 순간일지라도, 보다 편안하고 느리게 흐르도록 하고자 한다.
과거와 현재의 시간이 공생하는 한의원에서 시간은 외부보다 더 느리고 여유롭게 흐를 것이다. 무감각하고 공적인 공간이었던 한의원은 사람들에게 정신적 안정과 여유를 선물할 수 있는 공간이 된다. 이 곳에 잠시 머무른 이들도 느린 시간 속에서 오래 휴식을 취한 이처럼 가벼운 걸음으로 나올 수 있기를 바란다.
Visiting hospital or medical clinic is a short moment added to people’s daily schedules. To some people, if could feel like a waste of time. Senseless public space cannot give people feeling of complete relaxation. Time will move slower in “Neul Oriental Clinic” where past and present co-exists. We want patients of “Neul Oriental Clinic” to mellow out and feel relaxed during their visit. We want their ‘short moment’ to feel like a ‘long vacation’.
Design process
한의원은 과거와 현재의 시간이 공생하는 공간이다. 현대 한의학은 동양 전통 의학과 현대 양학을 함께 결합하여 새로운 입지를 세우고 있으며, 이에 따라 공간에서 또한 오리엔탈과 모던의 무드를 함께 드러내고자 한다.
모던 오리엔탈의 무드 속에서 이용자들은 보다 느리고 여유로운 시공간을 경험할 것이다. 느리게 흐르는 시간은 천장의 보와 천으로 시각화 되어 길게 늘어진다. 사람들은 늘어난 천과 직접적으로 마주하는 동시에 천천한 시간의 흐름을 지각하게 된다.
공간의 내부로 들어갈수록 사용자들은 반투명한 소재의 천들 사이를 걷게 되며, 이 천들은 동선과 웨이팅 공간을 길쭉한 형태로 분할한다. 천 너머의 희미한 실루엣은 가늠할 수 없는 공간의 끝을 상상하도록 이끈다. 이는 이용자의 시야를 더 길고 깊숙한 곳까지 확장시킨다.

Stretch of time is visualized through lines of fabrics and beam all around the space. Thus patients can experience flow of expanded space-time. White and translucent fabrics hanging down from the ceiling creates slower and mellower space-time. Layers created by the fabrics veils end of the space. Without the end, the space becomes infinite.
